Peaceable Life Therapeutic Services is an independent private practice through which professionals offer their experience and expertise in the areas of Positive Behavior Support Services and Professional Counseling.  The following brief introductions provide information about consultant qualifications.  


Meneika has extensive experience working with adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and co-owns Family Sharing, Inc., a private provider of residential services for adults with intellectual disabilities (www.familysharing.org). 

Meneika has a “whole person/whole environment” approach to therapeutic supports, believing that a person who is fed, mind, body and spirit, who has a hopeful outlook on his or her future, and who knows that he or she is valued will strive to be the best that he or she can be in every situation. 

Meneika holds a MA in Professional Counseling from ​Liberty University and is licensed as a professional counselor through the Virginia Board of Counseling. She is an endorsed Positive Behavior Support Facilitator through Virginia Commonwealth University and the Partnership for People with Disabilities. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Association for Positive Behavior Support, and the Home and Community network of the Association of Positive Behavior Support. She has received training in Life Coaching at Liberty University.

Shara Lindsey-Walters was trained as a Positive Behavior Support Facilitator through a training grant with VCU’s Partnership for People with Disabilities from the DBHDS.  She received her M.Ed. from the University of Virginia with a Post Graduate license in Special Education and endorsements in Preschool Disabilities and Severe and Profound Disabilities. She attended James Madison University and graduated with a BS in Special Education initial licensure in teaching students with Emotional 
Disturbances, and minors in Psychology and Art. 

Shara has worked for many years in the field of Special Education including supporting individuals with disabilities of differing ages and support needs through direct service and teaching, research and training grants, and most recently has worked as the internship supervisor for graduate students enrolled at the 
University of Virginia and Radford University as part of the Severe Disabilities and Autism Consortium. Shara believes the foundation of effective positive behavior change involves creating a supportive relationship with the individual and the persons who are involved in their lives through helping to identify what function/s the challenging behavior/s are communicating and what supports are needed to assist the individual in gaining a better ability to respond to frustration and achieve more self determination in creating a more meaningful and happy life.

Shara is a member of TASH – The Association for Persons with Severe Handicaps and APBS – The Association of Positive Behavior Supports.

Ruth Ewers holds an MS in Human Services/ Social Work and has over 25 years experience working with adults and children with intellectual disabilities. She has a “whole person/whole environment” approach to behavioral supports, believing that when we teach coping, communication and emotional self-regulation skills while also providing more choices and control, individuals can live more purposeful and satisfying lives.
